Hi there! This is my first blog post ever…

I’m Miri, a Christ-following Austin native.

A single mother of two girls, spending most of my time doing the daily shuffle of life parenting, serving at my church, and relaxing in my new garden.

I started this blog to share with you about dealing with an autoimmune disorder, Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis (Hashi’s) through a biblical perspective and how my faith in Jesus Christ is making a difference.

Whether you have Hashi’s or some other illness, it is easy to think that God has looked the other way…

But I’m here to tell you that despite how awful you may feel on a daily basis, The Lord has not forgotten about you!

Weary souls, there is HOPE!

My Hashimoto’s Symptoms

What Symptoms Do You Experience With Hashimoto’s?

I had all these symptoms, non stop for a year and a half!

One Friday night not too long ago, I felt I couldn’t handle feeling this way much longer.

Weariness made me feel that I was truly at the end of my rope.

Utter despair set in.

It seemed as if my prayers were ignored.

When Hope Appeared

I sobbed on my bed telling the Lord how hurt and devastated I was feeling about this disease and that I really needed Him to intervene.

I had prayed and cried out to the Lord many times before. But something was different about this day.

I had finally come to the end of my own strength and knew that in the Lord alone rested all power, all sovereignty to heal.

Isaiah 40:28-31 states this so clearly “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary,  and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles;they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint..”

Those who hope in the Lord shall renew their strength.

What is your hope in friends?

Is it in your doctor?

In your intellect to research and self-heal (as mine was in).

Is it in your supplements or medicines?

Yes, all these things can be of tremendous help.

But true hope comes from humbling yourself under the mighty hand of God.

Trusting in Him and asking Him for help!

Hope appeared at the end of my rope, at the realization that the Lord alone is healer.

It’s not that my symptoms have disappeared, but the gloomy cloud that once hovered over me for has been blown away.

God is the hope for the weary and His grace will truly be enough.

Till next time friends.

Agape xoxo,

Miri
